Preferred gender pronouns from the journalistic ethics point of view on the example of Czech news sites
Netíková, Magdaléna ; Klabíková Rábová, Tereza (advisor) ; Schneiderová, Soňa (referee)
This bachelor thesis observes the way Czech news sites inform about people with preferred gender pronouns other than he/him or she/her. Its goal is to investigate the possibilities of a gender-neutral language in Czech and in what ways they can be applied in journalistic practice. Implementing qualitative interviews with editors of Czech news sites, I aimed to find out what their experiences are with editing texts that report on, for example, transgender or non-binary person. Among other things, I was interested in whether the respondent's wish to use their preferred pronouns would be respected by the journalist, whether there is a discussion between the author and the editor regarding the appropriate language, and who has the last word in the newsroom regarding this topic. Based on the interviews, the factors affecting journalists' approach to reporting on transgender and non-binary people were presented, and it was stated that the topic of different gender identities can in its current form be considered an ethical problem, as well as a linguistic problem.

The other titles had to respond to this situation, including the Rudé právo itself, which was, however, in exceptional circumstances, as reported directly to the directives of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. In the Rudé právo so appeared only official information (political, social, cultural and sports), which corresponded to the ideology of the Communist Party. It is therefore interesting to investigate this periodical in the context of contemporary events and to analyze its activities in connection with the fact that we now have. The editor's work was based on the discussions and proposals adopted at a meeting of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and its Secretariat, whose member was also editor in chief of the Rudé právo. The journal had automatically secured the highest allocations of newsprint, even during the late '80s, when it was real shortage of this material. After 1990, when began the consolidation of printed periodicals, the Rudé právo transformed into a joint-stock company whose majority...

The first enclosed unit includes texts helping us to create a partial picture of the Master's life. The second unit is a char- acterization and a detailed analysis of selected pieces of work with an accent on the technologi- cal aspect of the prints. The creation of the Master's B of the Die life story was very difficult considering the lack of the literature. After a thorough search in libraries and on the internet not even one continu- ous text concerning directly this artist has been found. Incomplete information have been found only in collected encyclopaedias about art.
